Beach game · new card every day
Sunset Bingo
Grab a spot on the sand at Siesta, Lido, Anna Maria or Venice, open this on your phone and tap a square every time you spot it. Everyone gets the same card today, so you can race whoever you came with. Five in a row before the sun hits the Gulf and you win. (Win nothing. Bragging rights only.)
Tonight's sunset: 5:46 PM Sarasota time, NOAA solar math.
Today's card: tap squares as you spot them.
BINGO. You out-watched everyone on the beach. Gloat responsibly.
House rules
- Today's card is the same for everybody and changes at midnight. "Shuffle my own card" gives you a private one if you've already played today's.
- Your taps are saved on your phone for today only, so closing the tab doesn't wipe your progress.
- Squares are honor system. Yes, the dolphin has to be a dolphin.
- Don't feed the seagulls to get the seagull square. That's cheating, and also how you lose your sandwich.
Before you head out
Check whether there's red tide today, look at the surf cam links at the top of every page to see the clouds before you drive, and pick up something for after on the sweet treats map. In town for the season? Snowbirds, start here.
We're a local blog. We can't make the clouds cooperate, and we've never seen the green flash either.
