Overnight Roundup
While You Were Sleeping: Tuesday, Oct. 27
Tuesday's overnight catch-up: a driver dies in an I-75 rollover near Venice, Manatee commissioners order an outside forensic audit, Bradenton police look for a missing 17-year-old, the Brewers rout the Rays in Game 3, and The Ringling reopens its restored Rupp Pavilion.
Good morning, Suncoast. The northeast wind is still blowing like it has somewhere to be, and the Rays need four in a row starting tonight.
It's a heavier start to the week, with a fatal crash on I-75 and a missing Bradenton teen, plus a big audit vote in Manatee and some good news from The Ringling. Here's what happened while you slept.
Public Safety
1. Driver killed in I-75 rollover near Venice
A 42-year-old man from Plantation was killed Sunday afternoon when his car ran off southbound I-75 near Jacaranda Boulevard and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said his Tesla Model Y went into the grass median just before 5 p.m., and the driver was ejected and died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation, WWSB reports.

2. Manatee commissioners order outside forensic audit
Manatee County commissioners unanimously backed Commissioner Bob McCann's request for an independent outside forensic audit of county contracts, capital improvement projects and County Administrator Charlie Bishop's discretionary spending, Your Observer reports. The scope includes county dealings with The Mosaic Company and the Light Up Manatee street-light program, and the audit could cost up to $100,000. A separate motion to formally reprimand Bishop over his Sept. 1 exchange with Commissioner Jason Bearden failed on a 3-3 tie.
Why it matters: McCann said an outside review is one way to rebuild public trust in how the county spends money.

3. Bradenton police searching for missing 17-year-old
Bradenton police are asking for help finding 17-year-old Yana Marie Lloyd, who was last seen in the Riverwalk area near Manatee Hospital, WWSB reports. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall with red hair and tattoos on her right wrist and lower back, and was last wearing a pink T-shirt, gray sweatpants and black Crocs.
Why it matters: Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bradenton Police Department.

4. Brewers rout Rays 10-1, lead World Series 3-0
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 at Tropicana Field on Monday night behind an eight-run fifth inning, the AP reports. It was the Rays' first World Series home game at the Trop since 2008, in front of a sellout crowd of 40,388. Rookie lefty Robert Gasser allowed one hit and faced the minimum through six innings, and Jackson Chourio went 4 for 5.
Why it matters: Game 4 is tonight at the Trop, with Griffin Jax scheduled to start for Tampa Bay; only one team in major league history has come back from 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series.

5. The Ringling reopens its restored Rupp Pavilion
The Ringling cut the ribbon Oct. 22 on the restored Rupp Pavilion, the circular, circus-tent-inspired structure once known as the Banyan Café, Your Observer reports. Executive Director Steven High said the building cost $15,000 when it went up in 1961 and $2.5 million to restore. The renovation returns it to architect William Rupp's original Sarasota School design after years of add-ons as a concession stand.
Why it matters: Architecture Sarasota's president called it a remarkable example of the Sarasota School of Architecture, and the restoration brings renewed attention to that heritage.
