Good News on X: The Bolts Are Perfect at Home, Your Name Can Fly to Titan and a Seal Found the Leaf Pile

The Lightning held off Winnipeg 6-4 to stay perfect at home, the Bucs are serving a family-recipe tamal Sunday (plus the Falcons line), Manatee County has a Halloween recycling tip, NASA will fly your name to Titan, a 26-year-old seal discovered leaf piles and X is turning movie titles into Mischief Night puns. Friday's good stuff from X.

Good News on X Every morning. See the whole weekly lineup →

It's Halloween Eve, the hockey team is unbeaten at home, the football team found a new snack, and a seal in Poland is having the best week of anyone on the internet. Pour the coffee. We'll take it from here.

Here's what people on X were smiling about since last night.

The Bolts are still perfect at home

The Lightning made Thursday night interesting, but they got it done. They beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-4 at Benchmark International Arena, per the ESPN box score, and the team's own account summed it up in five words.

Brayden Point opened the scoring in the first period off a Nikita Kucherov assist. Then the second period turned into a fireworks show: Conor Geekie, Anthony Cirelli, John Carlson and Brandon Hagel all scored, and the Bolts carried a 5-1 lead into the break. Winnipeg scored three in the third to make everybody in the building sit up straight, until Pontus Holmberg slid in the empty-netter with 1:31 left. Holmberg finished with a goal and three assists, which is a very good night at the office. The Bolts are now 8-3-1, and 19,092 people were there to see it.

They also handed out Halloween treats on the way out, per this post. All treats, no tricks. Their words, and honestly, accurate.

The Bucs found a new tamal for Sunday

If you're heading to Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, the Bucs have a new snack for you. Chef Jessica Cordova of Taco Riendo is serving a chicken tamal with shredded chicken and salsa verde, from family recipes in Mexico, in sections 108, 210 and 237.

The food comes with a game: the Falcons visit at 1 p.m. Sunday on Fox, per ESPN. The Bucs say they've got the second-most rushing yards in the league, and Gronk went on record that Bucky Irving is "HIM." I'm not going to argue with Gronk. Nobody should.

The line, per DraftKings via ESPN (pulled about 9:25 a.m. ET Friday): Tampa Bay is a 2.5-point home favorite, TB -2.5 (-110) / ATL +2.5 (-110). Falcons moneyline +120. O/U 44.5.

Tamal in one hand, rally towel in the other. That's a plan.

Manatee County wants your candy boxes

Before you toss everything after tomorrow night, Manatee County has a friendly reminder: cardboard costume boxes, paper bags and plastic candy containers may be recyclable. The candy wrappers and bags are another story, and the county lists plastic film and foil among the things that can't go in the bin.

So the plan is: eat the candy, recycle the box, and nobody has to know how many fun-size bars that was. Your secret's safe with me.

Your name can fly to Saturn's moon

NASA opened sign-ups yesterday to put your name on a microchip aboard Dragonfly, the rotorcraft headed to Saturn's largest moon, Titan. Everybody who signs up gets a personalized digital boarding pass, per NASA's announcement.

Dragonfly is being built at Johns Hopkins APL (they're excited too), launches in 2028 and arrives in 2034, where it'll fly between spots on a moon with methane rivers and lakes, dunes and a thick atmosphere. The list closes at 11:59 p.m. EST on Jan. 15, 2027, and you can sign up at go.nasa.gov/dragonfly-names. I signed up the dog. He's never been past the Skyway, so this is big for him.

Dawid the seal discovered the leaf pile

Over in Poland, a 26-year-old gray seal named Dawid at Zoo Borysew got a pile of colorful autumn leaves and reacted the way all of us did at age 6. He rolled. He wiggled. He came up wearing leaves. ABC News' clip has been watched millions of times since, and it's still going.

We don't get leaf piles here, which is the one thing about fall up north I'll admit I'm jealous of. The closest we get is a pile of sea grape leaves, and the seal deserves better.

Tonight is Mischief Night, so X made puns

It's the night before Halloween, and the hashtag game crowd at @FGFriendlies got #ASongOrMovieForWhatsMischief trending in the U.K. The rules: take a song or movie title and give it a little mischief. My favorite came from @SugarpussOShea1, who also offered "Mischief and Make-Up."

Other good ones: "Full Metal Jest" and "Prelude to a Mischief." Mine is "Gone With the Wind Chimes," which is what happens to my porch decorations every October. Have a happy, harmless Mischief Night, and a safe Halloween tomorrow.
