Somebody Painted a Cookie Purple. It's Called Ube.
Emerson's Bakehouse in Bradenton puts Purple Ube on a Spring Dessert Box and in the mini-cookie mix — quarter-pound dozen $38.99, pickup Mon/Wed/Fri on State Road 70.
I opened Emerson's Bakehouse looking for a normal chocolate chip. The homepage banner said New UBE flavor. I did not scroll past that.
Ube is the purple yam that turns dessert the color of a gel pen. Emerson's put it in a cookie. Soft. White chocolate. An ube drizzle on top. The Spring Dessert Box is where it lands first: four Purple Ube, four Strawberry Dream, four Lemon Sunshine, plus four Easter M&M crispies, $26.50.
The cookies are not delicate
This is a cottage bakery in the Bradenton / Sarasota area run by Sarah, per the shop's Who we are page. Gourmet cookies and crispy treats. She wants coffee next. I am rooting for the coffee.
The dozen of large cookies is $38.99. Each one is over a quarter pound. You get two of each house flavor: Chocolate Chip, M&M's, Reese's, Oreo, S'mores, Birthday Cake. A half dozen is $19.80. That is not a "I'll just have one" situation. That is a napkin situation.
Prefer control? The 20 Mini Cookies Party Pack is $26.50 and lets you pick twenty from the board — including Purple Ube, Lemon Sunshine, Strawberry Dream, and Triple Chocolate. Forty minis run $48. Unicorn Crispies and Oreo Crispies are $16.50 for a four-pack if you need something that looks like a parade float.
How to actually get them this week
Read the product pages carefully. Delivery or store pickup runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at designated times. Order about two days ahead of the day you want. Shipping goes out on Mondays (weekend checkouts wait for the next Monday). Prep time is listed as two calendar days on the large cookies and two business days on the Spring box and minis.
Store pickup is listed on the order form as Emerson's Bakehouse, 11563 State Road 70 East, Bradenton. Local delivery is an option once you check your address. Catering and big orders: emersonshideaway@gmail.com, per the About page.
I have not eaten these. I am staring at a purple cookie on a Square menu on a Monday and deciding whether Wednesday pickup is soon enough. It is soon enough.
If your tote already has a Saturday Bradenton Public Market plan — Kristin's smoked cookies and Spare Kitchen's chocolate-chip biscuits live on that circuit — add a midweek Emerson's run so the purple gets its own day.
Planning the rest of the week? Sandy mapped the costume calendar.
