Good News on X: The Bucs Ran for 258, the Rays Are Home and an Elephant Mom Said Exactly What She Thought

The Bucs ran over Carolina 43-13 as 3-point underdogs, the World Series lands at the Trop tonight with stone crab claws at the concession stand, Manatee County volunteers filled a trailer with junk at Hidden Harbor, an Indian forest crew reunited an elephant calf with its mom, SpaceX lit all 33 engines and the internet is renaming movies after animal noises. Monday's good stuff from X.

Good News on X Every morning. See the whole weekly lineup →

The wind is still blowing like it has somewhere to be, the Bucs are 1-0 in the division and there's a World Series game in St. Petersburg tonight. For a Monday, that's a pretty good hand.

Here's what people on X were smiling about since yesterday afternoon.

The Bucs threw for 64 yards and won by 30

Tampa Bay went into Charlotte as a 3-point underdog and left with a 43-13 win. Per the ESPN box score, the Bucs ran it 49 times for 258 yards, Bucky Irving had 106 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, Yaya Diaby had three of the team's five sacks, and the defense forced four turnovers while the offense didn't give up any. Baker Mayfield, back from injury, went 7 for 11 for 64 yards and a touchdown. That's a quarterback who spent a road game in the NFL mostly handing the ball to people and then watching. Some of us call that a Sunday.

The team's 8 a.m. post this morning was "1-0 in the NFC South ‼️", which is technically true and a very good way to describe a 2-5 record. Next up is Atlanta at Raymond James on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. on Fox.

World Series Game 3 is at the Trop tonight, and there are stone crab claws

The Rays are down 2-0 to Milwaukee and back home for Game 3 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. ESPN lists Freddy Peralta for Tampa Bay and Robert Gasser for the Brewers. The Rays' account this morning: "World Series looks good on you, @tropicanafield!" Fair. It's been since 2008.

The real news for some of you, though, came last night:

Stone crab season opened Oct. 15, and now it's at the ballpark. Somebody in section 100-something is going to crack a claw during a 3-2 count and miss the most important pitch of the year. I respect it.

The line, per DraftKings via ESPN (pulled about 9:30 a.m. ET Monday): Tampa Bay is a slight home favorite, TB -120 / MIL -101. Run line MIL -1.5 (+172), TB +1.5 (-210). O/U 7.

And if you're flipping over during pitching changes, Monday Night Football has Dallas at Philadelphia at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN and ABC. Per DraftKings via ESPN: Dallas is a 4.5-point road favorite, DAL -4.5 (-108) / PHI +4.5 (-112). Moneyline DAL -205 / PHI +170. O/U 43.5.

Manatee County volunteers filled a whole trailer at Hidden Harbor

Local, and genuinely nice. Manatee County's Natural Resources team posted thanks to everyone who came out for last week's cleanup along the new trail at Hidden Harbor. Volunteers filled an entire trailer with trash, including giant tires, glass, tile and metal.

Giant tires. On a nature trail. Somebody, at some point, drove out there with a tire and thought, "This is the spot." Thanks to the people who undid that.

Same account, more good news for families: Manatee Movie Night is coming back next week, with movies under the stars at Parrish Community Park and Mixon Farms in November and December, 6 to 8 p.m. Bring a blanket or a chair. Bring a sweatshirt if this wind sticks around.

An elephant calf got its mom back, and she let everyone know

In the Kurseong forest division in West Bengal, India, a mother elephant and her calf fell into a water tank. Both were rescued, but the calf got separated from its mom in the process. Forest staff tracked the mother for seven hours and reunited them. Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan shared the video, and it's well past 500,000 views.

He says to watch for the mother's reaction at the end, and he's right. Seven hours of tracking in a forest to return one baby to one very large, very relieved parent. Good work by that crew.

SpaceX lit all 33 engines at once

Over in South Texas, SpaceX ran a full-duration static fire of all 33 Raptor engines on the Super Heavy booster that's being prepped for Starship Flight 15. The video has close to 2 million views.

A static fire means the rocket is bolted down and doesn't go anywhere. Thirty-three engines at full roar, and it stays put. It's the most powerful version of revving a car in the driveway, and I would absolutely stand on the lawn and watch.

The Seahawks held the Chiefs to 3 points

If you were up for Sunday Night Football, Seattle beat Kansas City 20-3, per ESPN. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had nine catches for 150 yards and a touchdown, Emanuel Wilson ran for 100 and a score, and the Chiefs finished with 213 total yards. That was Kansas City's first loss, which leaves Minnesota, after a 16-10 win over Indianapolis, as the NFL's only unbeaten team at 6-0.

The internet is renaming movies after animal noises

The hashtag #ASongOrMovieForAnimalSounds has been trending in the U.K. this morning, and it's exactly what it sounds like. A few I enjoyed this morning: "You Must Ribbit" from @ConnieLukey, "Fast Baa" from @89210_sonic, and a whole duck-hunter edition from @josephscottelli, an Arkansas outdoorsman who went with "Quack to the Future" and "Mallard of the Rings."

I've been sitting here for 10 minutes trying to come up with one about a pelican and I don't have it. The pelican on our picture up top doesn't have one either. He's just looking at the stone crabs.

That's Monday. A blowout in Charlotte, claws at the Trop, a trail that's lighter by one trailer of tires, and an elephant who got her kid back. Go Rays.

Can't pick? Pull a random one From the food, wine and myth-busting pile. No old game slates.
