Parrish Has an Improv Troupe. Tonight They Need Your Chair.

ChuckleHeads from Parrish Playworks take the amphitheater at Parrish Community Park tonight, 6:30–7:30 p.m. Free. Food trucks from 6. Bring a foldable chair.

Northern Manatee County just invented a Friday plan that does not involve a bridge, a beach parking lot, or a cover charge.

Parrish Playworks is bringing its improv troupe, ChuckleHeads, back to Parrish Community Park tonight — Friday, Oct. 2, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free. Family-friendly. Food trucks start around 6. The amphitheater is the venue; a foldable chair is the dress code. Address for your map app: 7550 Fort Hamer Rd, Parrish.

What you're walking into

This is the second First-Friday night of the new series (they kicked off Sept. 4). The organizers say you can watch or get pulled on stage. That second option is available. It is not required. I have seen enough community improv to know the audience always thinks they'll sit quietly, and then someone named Dave is doing a scene about Publix chicken.

Pulse of Manatee and Fun 4 Manasota Kids both have the night listed. Donations are welcome; the lights grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County apparently got the traveling stage out of the dark ages. Call (941) 500-9350 if you need the details from a human.

The honest pitch

One hour. No ticket. Trucks that smell better than your leftovers. A comedy show where the script is whatever the park throws at them. And you can be home before the late news starts pretending it's news.

I'll be the one who said "just watching" and somehow still ended up naming a character.
