The Market Turns 47 Tomorrow. There's a Bounce House on State Street.
Sarasota Farmers Market's 47th birthday is Saturday, Oct. 3, 7 a.m.–1 p.m. at Lemon & Main. Free. Bounce house, mini donuts, live music — and the usual Saturday haul.
Most birthdays peak around a cake and some awkward singing. The Sarasota Farmers Market is celebrating 47 years by putting a bounce house on State Street and calling it a Saturday.
That's tomorrow, Oct. 3, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Lemon Avenue and Main Street in downtown Sarasota. Free. Same hours as every other Saturday. Different snack table.
What they actually put on the list
Per the official birthday page: bounce house on State Street, kids activities, balloons, mini donuts, popcorn, giveaways, live music. Plus the usual farmers, food vendors, makers, and local businesses that fill the blocks from First Street down toward Pineapple.
You still get tomatoes. You also get a sugar high and a kid who will not want to leave the bounce house. That is called balance.
The honest Saturday math
Arrive early if you want parking that does not involve a motivational speech. Bring a bag you can actually carry. Cash still works at a lot of stalls. Phone: 941-225-9256 if you need a human instead of a map pin.
I'll be the one who said "just grabbing produce" and somehow owns mini donuts, a balloon, and a story about a bounce house I did not personally enter.
