66 People Booked a Gold Cup at a Place Called Dill Dinkers
The APA Suncoast Gold Cup fills Dill Dinkers on Tallevast this Saturday and Sunday. Registration is closed at 66 players. Indoor courts, air conditioning, and a name you will say twice.
I am not inventing the venue name. Dill Dinkers sits at 500 Tallevast Road, Suite 110, in Sarasota — twelve indoor courts, climate-controlled, open until 10 p.m. most days. This weekend it hosts the Suncoast Gold Cup, an Amateur Pickleball Association event for players rated roughly 2.5 to 5.0.
Who still gets in
Nobody new, unless APA finds a late seat. PickleballTournaments.com shows registration closed with 66 players entered. Early-bird was $65 for a first event, $45 for a second. Doubles typically start Saturday around 8 a.m. Mixed doubles Sunday. Format includes round-robin, a six-game floor, and brackets after. Indoor event. Court shoes required. No refunds once you pay, which is the universal language of adult rec sports.
No partner on the form? APA says they try to match you. Missed the window? That is what the other eleven months of open play are for.
Why this one made the list
Pickleball outdoors in early October on the Suncoast is legal. It is also a negotiation with the sun. Dill Dinkers runs air-conditioned courts with outdoor-style surfaces inside, which is the entire Florida product pitch in one sentence. The club lists daily open play on its Sarasota page — members around $10, visitors around $20, depending on the block — if you want the building without the bracket.
The Open doubles cash division on the tournament page was already marked sold out at fourteen teams, with gold / silver / bronze payouts listed up to $1,000 / $600 / $400. Everyone else is playing for the bracket medals and the right to say they spent a weekend at Dill Dinkers without laughing first.
The wine note
After six guaranteed games, you have earned something cold that is not a sports drink. I am not pairing tannins with a kitchen paddle. I am saying the drive home on Tallevast is shorter if you already know where the bottle is.
Check the APA event page for format notes and the club listing for open-play times. The trophy is metaphorical. The AC is not.
