They Put a Boat on Main Street. The Playlist Is Yacht Rock.
Fresh Fridays Season 6 opens tomorrow on Main Street with Sunset Soundwaves: yacht rock, food vendors, free giveaways, and an actual boat for photos. 7–10 p.m. Free.
Downtown Sarasota does a lot of things. Tomorrow night it does soft rock with a boat on asphalt.
Fresh Fridays opens Season 6 Friday, Oct. 2, with Sunset Soundwaves: A Yacht Rock Experience — 7 to 10 p.m. on Main Street between Pineapple and Palm. Free. Family-friendly. The monthly first-Friday series runs October through June, per the organizers.
What you're walking into
SRQ Magazine has the season premiere on Main between First Watch and Clasico: live set by Yacht-A-Rock, local food vendors with light bites and drinks, free giveaways, and a photo stop with a boat they actually hauled onto the street. Central Florida's yacht-rock cover crew is promising the Michael McDonald / Steely Dan / Christopher Cross lane. You already know every chorus. Your neighbors will pretend they don't.
Eat Play SWFL lists the same window and calls it a City of Sarasota presentation. Street parking will do what street parking always does on a First Friday. Arrive early if you want a curb that still respects you.
The honest pitch
Three hours. No ticket. A band that exists specifically to smooth your evening. Food you can eat standing up. And a boat that will never leave the block, which is somehow the most Florida part.
I will be the person who said "just one song" and somehow still knows every chorus to "Sailing."
