Somebody Put a Fried Egg on a Pierogi. It's Called The Hangover.
The Naughty Pierogi is a Sarasota pierogi truck that hasn't rolled out yet, but the menu is already posted: beer cheese, pulled pork, kielbasa and a fried-egg plate named for your Sunday.
There is a pierogi truck coming to Sarasota, and it has no location, no launch date and no schedule. What it does have is a fully priced menu, which tells you where the owners' heads are at.
It's called The Naughty Pierogi. The site's homepage says "Coming Soon" in about four places, plus a tagline I'm not allowed to print on a blog that people read at work. The gist: big flavor, no apologies.
Who's driving
The truck belongs to Mickie and Nicky, two names on one truck, and they say every order is handmade, stuffed and served hot. The LLC was filed in June, so this has been in the works since before hurricane season got interesting. Pierogi in a Florida summer is a commitment. Respect.
The plates
Every plate starts with potato and cheddar pierogi. Then it gets loud. Straight off their menu:
- The Bad Boy, $14: bacon, beer cheese, crispy onions. Four pierogi.
- Smoke Show, $15: pulled pork, BBQ drizzle, chives. Four.
- The Hangover, $15: fried egg, cheddar sauce, sausage crumble. Four.
- The Kraut Pleaser, $15: kielbasa, sauerkraut, mustard cream. Four.
- The Classic, $13: caramelized onions. Five.
- Build Your Own, $15: two toppings, one protein, your call. Five.
Notice that the plainest plate comes with the most pierogi. That's not an accident. That's a grandmother's logic, and I trust it completely.
The Hangover is the one people will talk about. Every Florida food truck eventually puts a fried egg on something. These two just skipped the waiting period.
When, where
Nobody knows yet, including, it seems, the truck. The Find Us section says they're finalizing a schedule of farmers markets, food truck festivals and late-night pop-ups. The late-night part is the right call. Nobody has ever wanted a kielbasa-and-kraut plate at 10 a.m. Eleven p.m., sure, everyone has.
They're also taking catering: weddings, corporate events, birthdays, block parties. A wedding with a Kraut Pleaser line would be the first wedding where the guests leave talking about the food and not the toast.
Location drops will go out on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook under @thenaughtypierogi, and there's an email list on the homepage if you want to hear first.
While you wait, there are other trucks around here worth chasing. The Kiito chivito is coming to Lakewood Ranch twice, and the FEWD Tent is still on its fall tour.
I'll be watching for the first location drop. Probably while holding a fork.
